New Style for a New Nothing

Tags: May 15, 2005 (12 comments)

So, I've finally got round to giving my blog a well needed new design, so, what do people think? I personally think it is a great improvement from the previous lifeless design.

In the course of designing this, I found there were no plugins that displayed the recent comments like I wanted. So I wrote my own. That will, of course, be made public shortly.

This was also far easier to make than the previous one, as when I made that, WordPress was on alpha 3, and the only reference I had to create a style from was the 2 existing styles. Not fun. Now, however, I have a whole codex containing documentation, every function is documented now, which made theming WordPress easy.

There is nothing to this....It is completely lifeless????

Neil sits and ponders why Geoffers used this style?

it's "clean"...the fading image for some reason or another is possibly more annoying than a "normal" image would be. and it keeps changing...where's your branding, son?! :)

    j(hey you asked!)

Change is a good thing :P

Seriously though, it does look better with the pading image, as someone who had seen it without the fades :)

Time to tell you what posts I have planned:

    • Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) Review
    • Recent Comments WP Plugin
    • Combatting comment spam

They'll be appearing... In some order... Maybe a couple of posts inbetween :P

    Geoff,

Nice! Maybe set the central section a bit off from the page background, like a couple of subtle borders?

I've been thinking about doing that, but the fact that the white is part off the header images is what is putting it off, I've been thinking of various ways to seperate it, but, my mind is yet to be made up.

Browsing and i found this - let me give an update to my previous response. My browser grabbed a version with no style sheets. :)
